Dr. Everham, No one can possibly empathize the pain you and your family are going through. You have the biggest heart of any person I have ever met, taking in wayward pets and having a kind word and smile for everyone you meet. I was never your student, but because I was in the lab all the time you recognized my face (and took in the wayward ball python drew found in our parking lot). The morning of Danny’s death you stopped by to ask Sam and I if we were ready for the new semester, how we were. I learned from Lesli you were making your rounds, with a big smile, asking everyone how they were. I hope one day your smile will return…soon. Remember, “if you can’t change something, change how you look at it”. The day I found out about your son’s death, it made me realize that the ‘problems’ i was worrying about were nothing. The problems I should worry about are things likely to blindside me on some random Thursday. Or at the very least, be a matter of life or death. Please know that I have positive thoughts and prayers for you and your family at this time. While no words can take away the pain of your loss, know that your family, and your FGCU family is here for you in any capacity we can. Danny will forever look over you and your family with love and protection.
